Executive Director

Mike King serves as the Executive Director of Raleigh’s Place, a role shaped profoundly by his own personal story. Mike’s first introduction to the ministry came not as a staff member, but as a foster child, when founders Tim and Sharon King welcomed him into their home. As a teenager, Mike was formally adopted by the Kings, an experience that forever shaped his understanding of family, faith, and the redemptive power of the gospel.

During his high school years, Mike sensed a clear calling to ministry—specifically to serve at Raleigh’s Place. That calling led him to serve as Camp Director for nine years, where he helped create meaningful, gospel-centered experiences for children in foster care. He later transitioned into leadership of the Workmanship Initiative, guiding young adults aging out of care through education, life skills, and job readiness, before ultimately being appointed Executive Director.

Today, Mike leads Raleigh’s Place with a deep personal conviction and a shepherd’s heart, using both his lived experience and his commitment to the gospel to advance the organization’s mission: to live the Gospel by loving the fatherless. His leadership is rooted in gratitude, faithfulness, and a passion to see children and families experience hope, healing, and belonging through Christ.

Living the Gospel by Loving the Fatherless.
